Save as file
Save as file
Section titled “Save as file”Save generated text — CSV, Markdown, JSON, or plain text — as a downloadable file.
What it does
Section titled “What it does”Takes text content produced earlier in the workflow and downloads it as a file. Unlike Download as file, which downloads an existing URL, this node writes content you generated (for example the output of CSV, JSON, or Code).
When to use it
Section titled “When to use it”Use it as the final step when you want the workflow’s result saved to a file rather than sent to a service or shown on the page.
Inputs and settings
Section titled “Inputs and settings”| Setting | Notes |
|---|---|
| Content | The text to save. Usually an expression such as {{ $input.csv }}. |
| File name | Optional. Without the extension (added from File type). Defaults to file. |
| File type | txt, csv, json, md, html, or xml. Sets the extension and content type. Defaults to txt. |
Outputs
Section titled “Outputs”Triggers the download as a side effect and passes control to the next node.
Dependencies and credentials
Section titled “Dependencies and credentials”- No credentials. Runs in the browser (it needs a page/window to trigger the download).
Example workflow
Section titled “Example workflow”Build a report → CSV (build) → Save as file (Content: {{ $input.csv }}, File type: csv, File name: report).
Requirements
Section titled “Requirements”Available from extension v0.7.0. Workflows that use it won’t install on older extensions.
