Record Audio
Record Audio
Section titled “Record Audio”Pause the workflow, record audio from the microphone, and continue with the recording as a $binary value. Audio is captured locally and never leaves your device — pair it with Transcribe Audio for a fully on-device voice-to-text step.
What it does
Section titled “What it does”When the run reaches this node it suspends and shows a recording popup — a live waveform and a timer that counts up to your Max length, with Cancel, Restart, and Stop & send. You record, then stop, and the captured audio flows out of the node as $binary. Like other interactive pauses (approvals, in-page forms), the run signals that it is waiting for you, and the popup reappears whenever you reopen the paused workflow.
Recording on the page you’re on (browser extension)
Section titled “Recording on the page you’re on (browser extension)”In the browser extension, when a run pauses at this node, a small recording card also appears on the web page you’re currently viewing — so you can record without switching to the app. It moves through three steps:
- Waiting — shows your Prompt and the maximum length. Start recording begins; Skip just closes the card.
- Recording — a live waveform and a timer counting up to Max length (recording stops automatically there). Cancel, Restart, or Stop.
- Review — play back the clip, then Send & continue run to resume the workflow with it, or Re-record.
The audio stays on your device: it goes straight from the page to your workflow. Because the card runs inside the page, the browser asks for that site’s microphone permission the first time. If the site blocks the microphone or no microphone is found, the card says so — record from the recording popup in the app instead. Closing or skipping the card doesn’t cancel anything: the run keeps waiting, and you can still record from the app.
When to use it
Section titled “When to use it”Capture a voice note, a spoken command, or dictation as part of a workflow — then transcribe, summarize, or store it. Because it’s a durable suspend, it fits anywhere you’d pause for human input.
Inputs and settings
Section titled “Inputs and settings”| Setting | Notes |
|---|---|
| Prompt | The message shown in the recording popup (default Record audio). |
| Max length (seconds) | Caps the recording length (default 60). |
Outputs
Section titled “Outputs”Resumes with the recording as a $binary value (an audio blob, e.g. audio/webm) plus a recordedAt timestamp. Feed the $binary straight into Transcribe Audio or any node that accepts binary media.
- The microphone is accessed via
getUserMedia; the browser asks for permission the first time (per site, for the in-page card). - Audio is captured client-side and never uploaded by this node.
- If no audio is captured (the popup is dismissed), the node continues with an empty output.
