FAQ

Short answers to the questions people ask most about AWFlow

No. Click Continue without an account and everything is saved in your browser, with no limits on workflows, credentials or memories. An account adds cloud storage, the Marketplace, publishing and notifications. See Local or cloud.

Yes. A local workspace is free and unlimited. Signed-in accounts start on the free plan, which limits how much you keep in the cloud. Paid plans are shown as Coming soon. See Plan.

The extension is published for Chrome and for Firefox (version 140 or newer). On Firefox, AWFlow opens in the sidebar instead of the side panel, and Chrome’s built-in AI isn’t available. There is no Safari version. See Browser compatibility.

Can I use it without installing the extension?

Section titled “Can I use it without installing the extension?”

Yes, in the web app. Anything that needs the browser itself won’t work there: page triggers (page load, navigation, element change, right-click menu, hotkeys), steps that act on web pages, and agents browsing for you. Some integrations that browsers block from websites also need the extension. See Extension-only integrations in the web app.

Do my workflows run when the browser is closed?

Section titled “Do my workflows run when the browser is closed?”

No. Everything runs inside your browser, so it has to be open. Scheduled workflows and agent routines run while the browser is open; a routine missed while it was closed runs when you’re back. A Wait of a minute or more in the extension survives closing the tab and even restarting the browser.

Check that the workflow is Active: inactive workflows only run when you press Run. See Activate or deactivate. Very short intervals are rounded up to about one minute by the browser.

Open the workflow, go to Executions, filter by status, and open the run to read its log. See Run history.

A run is “Waiting”. What does it want?

Section titled “A run is “Waiting”. What does it want?”

It paused for your approval or a form. Answer it from N waiting in the header or from the workflow’s Executions tab. See Runs that need you.

Why does a workflow ask for permission to contact a website?

Section titled “Why does a workflow ask for permission to contact a website?”

Workflows installed from the Marketplace always ask before contacting a new website or using a connected app. Your own workflows ask too if you turned on Safe mode. Manage what you allowed in Site access.

Only what you save to the cloud, what your workflows send on purpose, calls to AI providers you set up, and anonymous usage statistics you can turn off. Chats, memory, agents and knowledge bases stay on your device. See Privacy & data.

Local credentials are encrypted in your browser; add a passphrase with the local secret vault for stronger protection. Cloud credentials are encrypted on AWFlow’s server. AI provider keys are always kept on your device.

Yes. Switch off Share anonymous usage statistics and Send error reports in Settings › Privacy.

I forgot my vault passphrase. Can you recover it?

Section titled “I forgot my vault passphrase. Can you recover it?”

No. The passphrase is never stored, so nobody can recover it. The secrets it protects can’t be decrypted; you’ll need to enter those credentials again.

Can I use the AI without sending anything to the cloud?

Section titled “Can I use the AI without sending anything to the cloud?”

Yes. Install an on-device model from Local AI, or connect Ollama running on your computer in Providers. On-device models work offline once downloaded.

Export them as .awf files, one at a time or in bulk, and import them anywhere. See Export & import. If you’re signed in, saving them to the cloud also makes them available on other devices.

Email hello@awflow.io. There is no delete button in the app yet. See Delete your data.

I didn’t get the verification or reset email.

Section titled “I didn’t get the verification or reset email.”

Check your spam folder and that you typed the right address. Then ask again from the login screen with Forgot your password?. See Reset your password.

What happens to my local workflows when I sign in?

Section titled “What happens to my local workflows when I sign in?”

They stay on your device. The first time you sign in, AWFlow offers to move them to your account; choose Keep local to leave them where they are.

Ask on the community forum, report bugs or request features on GitHub from the Help menu in the sidebar, or email hello@awflow.io. See Help & community.
