Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- A Notion workspace where you can create integrations (workspace owners can; members may need an owner).

Section titled “Set it up”-
Create the integration. Open notion.so/my-integrations (Settings › Connections › Develop or manage integrations), click New integration, pick your workspace and keep the type Internal.
-
Copy the secret. On the integration’s page, copy the Internal Integration Secret.
-
Save it in AWFlow. Open Credentials and click Add Credential (or + Add Credential in a node’s Credential field), then fill the New Credential form. In the browser side panel the form comes in two steps: tap Notion in the list, then fill the rest.
Numbered areas in the screenshot: 1. Integration App / Service: Notion; 2. Name; 3. Bearer Token; 4. Where the secret is stored (here, locally in this browser); 5. Create Credential.
-
Share pages with it. In Notion, open each page or database the workflow should use, then ⋯ › Connections › Connect to and pick your integration. Sharing a parent page shares the pages inside it.
Where your token lives
Section titled “Where your token lives”Permissions each operation needs
Section titled “Permissions each operation needs”| Capability (integration settings) | Needed for |
|---|---|
| Read content | Database · Get many, Get schema; Page · Get, Search; Block · Get |
| Update content | Page · Update, Delete; Block · Update, Delete |
| Insert content | Page · Create; Block · Create |
Set these under Capabilities on the integration’s page. Access is also limited to the pages you shared.
Common issues
Section titled “Common issues”- “Could not find database with ID… (object_not_found)”. The page or database isn’t shared with the integration. Use ⋯ › Connections › Connect to.
- “API token is invalid (unauthorized)”. The secret is wrong or the integration was deleted. Copy it again and update the credential.
- “Insufficient permissions for this endpoint”. A capability is off on the integration (for example Insert content). Turn it on.
- The run is blocked in the web app. Notion runs through the browser extension. Install the extension and allow Notion for this workflow when asked, or run the workflow from the extension. See Extension-only integrations in the web app.
