You don’t have to open the knowledge bases page to add something. There are three shortcuts, and they all use the same small picker:
- the knowledge bases pinned in the current chat come first and are preselected;
- each one shows its size and privacy (“12 sources”, “on this device only”);
- knowledge bases built with a cloud embedding model can’t be picked here;
- New knowledge base… creates one and selects it.
Click Save and index. Indexing runs in the background like any other source (see Add sources); a notice says Added to Product handbook · 24 chunks with Open when it is done.
Saving the same file, page or URL again replaces the older copy instead of adding a second one.
From a chat attachment
Section titled “From a chat attachment”Files, PDFs, tabs and selections you attach in a chat are normally read for that one message. To keep one:
- In the composer’s attachment tray, open the attachment’s ⋯ menu.
- Choose Save to knowledge base….
A page is read again from its tab; a selection is saved as “Page title (selection)”. Screenshots and images have no text, so they can’t be saved.
From the right-click menu (extension)
Section titled “From the right-click menu (extension)”On any web page, right-click and choose:
- AWFlow › Add page to knowledge base — saves the text of the page. It is read from the tab, so pages you are signed in to work too.
- AWFlow › Add selection to knowledge base — saves the text you selected.
AWFlow opens with the picker already filled in.
Ask Aria or an agent
Section titled “Ask Aria or an agent”Just ask: “Add this page to my product handbook”, or “Save this text to the Support macros knowledge base”. Aria and your agents can add the current page, a URL or a piece of text to a knowledge base you name.
Adding to a knowledge base is a write, so it follows the agent’s rules: it asks you every time unless you answer Always. When it is done, the reply says what happened, for example “Added Refund policy · Help Center to Product handbook · 24 chunks · replaced the older copy.”
This works in chats with Aria and with an agent. Agents in a team thread can’t add to a knowledge base.
