You don’t have to open the app to ask Aria something. All of these use the same models and privacy as the chat.
Right-click
Section titled “Right-click”Right-click on any page:
- Ask Aria about selection, Explain simply, Translate selection… — on selected text.
- Summarize page — on the page.
- Describe image — on an image.
- Send to a team… — hand the page or selection to one of your teams as a new thread.
- Add page to project… — save the page (or selection) as a file in one of your projects.
The answer appears in a small card on the page. Pick a project in the card to answer with its context. Open in full chat continues the conversation in the assistant.
Keyboard shortcut
Section titled “Keyboard shortcut”Press Ctrl+Shift+K (⌘+Shift+K on Mac, Alt+Shift+K in Firefox) for the quick-chat palette over the current page. Change the shortcut in your browser’s extension shortcuts page.
How quick answers behave
Section titled “How quick answers behave”The right-click card, the quick-chat palette, the address bar and the notch all answer the same way:
- The answer streams in as it is written, and the tools Aria uses appear as steps while they run.
- When the page is longer than what an on-device model can read, the page text is shortened to fit and a chip says so (for example Shortened to 2k tokens for on-device).
- A long quick chat is trimmed and summarised to fit the model, like a full chat.
- Aria uses your most relevant facts — Used 3 memories under a reply lists them — and can save or suggest new ones (Remember this?).
- If something goes wrong, a card says Aria couldn’t answer (or Lost the connection to Aria) with Try again and Open in full chat.
- Aria answers from a background page of the extension. If the browser restarts that page, you see Reconnecting to Aria…, then Aria restarted in the background — your chat was restored. Nothing you typed is lost.
Address bar
Section titled “Address bar”Type aw, a space, then your question in the address bar:
aw what is a good name for a cat— answers in the palette.aw tab: summarize this— about the current tab.aw @trip-crew weekend in Porto— opens the full assistant with an agent or team mention.aw #lisbon what is still missing— asks inside a project.
Recent chats appear as suggestions; pick one to reopen it.
When the Assistant Notch is on, it offers a quick chat and Page tools (summarize, explain, translate) for the page you are on.
Side panel
Section titled “Side panel”The side panel shows the same chat in a narrow layout, with the agent switcher at the top. The Chat | Build switch works there too: see Building workflows in chat.
